PEACE RUN 2014 Running Across New Zealand

(English Below)

PEACE RUN 2014 Running Across New Zealand

*On February 5, 2015 this project was completed. Thanks so much for your support!!

It’s been three years this year since I, Adventure Runner Kay,  started to run “PEACE RUN Running 40,000km(25,000miles) On 5 Continents Around The World.”

I’ve already done 10,000km(6,300miles) on two continents(North America and Australia). The rest is 30,000km(18,645miles) on three continents(Eurasia, Africa and South America).

A continent is something very huge to me who is from island country Japan.

Every time I ran on the continent, I felt perfect freedom on the wild land where I saw the horizon anywhere I was.

No matter how tough and hard time I come across, someone surely gives me a helping hand.

There were many times I was impressed by the beauty and the vastness of the great nature.

But it is true that I had more chances to be impressed by the encountering nice people on the way.

Ordinary conversation starts when a car stops on the shoulder of the highway just in front of me running silently and quietly all by myself in the middle of the desert.

They seem to like to hear my story. After chatting to me, they are glad to offer water and food as much as I need.

Some people give donation for 3.11 Tsunami and Earthquake relief.

While I keep going along the way, many people come and go, there are so many smiling faces of them I can never forget.

Those happy times filled with love and peace will never disappear from my mind.

Feeling that way, I step into the world again full of the hard-boiled, I keep running on my own two legs as long as only one road goes on with nothing on my mind as if I was meditating.

Yes, this is, so to speak, a pilgrimage showing my gratitude to the planet Earth.

I leave Japan for New Zealand on November 10.

It is the prologue of Running in the Continent of Eurasia, the Chapter 3 of “PEACE RUN Running 40,000km(25,000miles) On 5 Continents Around The World”

After spending some days in Auckland, I will leave for Invercargill, the southern most point of the country.

I am going to take the same route as I biked across New Zealand spending 3 months in 1994 and 1995.

Designated Route:

Auckland-Rotorua-Taupo-Wellington-Kaikoura-Christchurch-Mt.Cook-Queenstown-Invercargill-Te Anau-Dunedin

-Queenstown-Wanaka-Hurst-Fox Glacier-Franz Joseph-Hokitika-Christchurch

New Zealand is also an island country where there are lots of mountains. 3,000km(1,865miles) is not so long but It is going to be a quite tough and hard one running along the mountainous route.

We can experience many varieties of the great mother nature in New Zealand where there are mountains, rivers, sea, water falls, lakes, glacier and so on.

My partner VIENTO the sport buggy will run around the third country I visit.

I’d like to share the experience of mine with you all via internet.

Why don’t you enjoy the movies and pictures which I take?

Unexpected dramas with no scenario will be waiting for me.

There are many things I can experience out there.

Some will be emotional, impressive. And some will be new discoveries I have never known.

Of course, I’m looking forward to smiling faces and life of local people as well as the great nature of New Zealand.

If there’s a chance, I am thinking of visiting some schools where I can talk about my journey to see lots of smiling faces of kids in New Zealand.

I’d like to put much emphasis on how important it is to have dreams, to try something new and to make an adventure

And also I’d like to share these experiences of mine with kids who will lead the next generation to put spurs to them.

I really appreciate the support of all the supporters and sponsors who gave me messages and donation.

I will run 3,000km(1,865miles) with the dreams of you all on my buggy “VIENTO” in New Zealand.
